Maynilad Water Services, Incorporated (Maynilad) through their President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Ramoncito “Mon” S. Fernandez; the Batasan Hills Council, represented by Captain John “Jojo” M. Abad; and, Samahang Tubig Maynilad (STM) – Riverview, an organization of Riverview residents, under the chairmanship of Purok (Area) Leader Albert C. Toldanes, enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) in the afternoon of April 19, 2016 (Tuesday) at Riverview, Batasan Hills, Quezon City.

Maynilad, the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base, is the agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area.

The STM program seeks to address the issues that prevent communities of informal settlers from gaining access to potable and affordable water. Under this program, Maynilad organizes communities of informal settlers into cooperative-based organizations and gives them values formation and skills training so they can manage the public faucets installed in their area.

With 60 families as beneficiaries, STM-Riverview is Maynilad’s 13th STM to date. The cheaper water provided by the STM translates to monthly savings of PhP 300.00 to PhP 500.00 per household.

The inauguration incidentally falls on Pres. Fernandez’ 60th birthday. A party with hats, mascots, games and giveaways for the kids, therefore, follows the blessing and MOA signing.
