The Participation Committee of the Barangay Council on the Protection of Children (BCPC) spearheaded Batasan Hills’s celebration of the Children and Youth Month on November 22, 2015 (Sunday) in support of the National Youth Commission (NYC) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the lead agencies tasked by the government to prepare and implement activities in line with the national commemoration of the Children and Youth Month.
The TFYD Basketball League 2015 formally opens on November 21, 2015 (Saturday) at 8:00 AM. The organizers of the tournament – the Sports Committee under the chairmanship of Captain John “Jojo”M. Abad and Kgd. Jhorwin D. Santos, the Task Force on Youth Development (TFYD) under the supervision of Kagawad Filomena “Luming” V. de Guzman, Bgy. Secretary Edwin P. Misolas and Bgy. Public Relations Officer (P.R.O.) Jose “Joe” Frias; other members of the barangay council, namely, Kgds. Edgar “Junjun” S. Macario, Ernesto “Ernie” S. Custodio and Roberto “Bobby” B. Miras; President Corazon C. Aquino Elementary School (PCCAES) Drum and Lyre, also known as Golden Tigers; Batasan Gay Pride presided by former Bgy. Liaison Officer Sonnie Entice; barangay staff and volunteers; and, the players of the 20 participating teams, assembled at the SB Park, IBP Road for the parade.
In support of the Task Force on Youth Development (TFYD)’s advocacy to promote sportsmanship and camaraderie through the TFYD Basketball League 2015, Captain John “Jojo” M. Abad and his council sponsored the uniforms for 12 players of each of the 20 participating teams. The distribution happened on November 20, 2015 (Friday) at 7:00 PM at the Saret Covered Court, the night before the scheduled opening ceremonies of the said tournament.

Abad and Kagawad Filomena “Luming” V. de Guzman, participated in the ‘National Stakeholders’ Forum’ in the Convention Hall at the Department of Health (DOH) Compound, Tayuman, Manila on October 28, 2015 (Wednesday).
20 child laborers comprised the Batasan Hills delegation to the 3rd Quezon City (QC) Children Summit held at the Amoranto Theater, Sct. Chuatoco Street, Diliman on October 22, 2015 (Thursday) from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The delegates were the kids who witnessed the Launching of the Campaign for Child Labor-Free Barangays sponsored by the QC government and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). The Lingap Children’s Foundation donates sports equipment to the Office of the Chairman of Batasan Hills on August 19, 2015 (Wednesday). Lingap is a Filipino term pertaining to “protective and compassionate care.” As the name implies, Lingap Children’s Foundation is a non-profit organization which provides food, shelter, education and hope to the neglected, abused, exploited and abandoned children of the Philippines.
